‘Katharina Smets lost her mother and began talking to others who were also living with the absence of a loved one. Together, they created *Nenia*—which literally means ‘song of the dead’. It became a delicate, tender, and intense composition in which various voices find one another—in pain, in tentative searching, and in hope and despair.
